The Role

As a bartender at The Osthelder, you’ll be responsible for providing excellent drinks and, just as importantly, creating an atmosphere where people want to stay awhile.

The ideal bartender is personable, confident, observant, and genuinely enjoys people. You should be comfortable striking up a conversation with a new guest, catching up with regulars, and helping a group feel at home.

This is a people first bartending job. We’re looking for someone who understands that a great bar experience is about more than pouring a drink. It’s about creating the kind of night people remember.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Prepare and serve beer, wine, cocktails, and non alcoholic beverages.
• Provide knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive service.
• Engage with guests and help create genuine connections.
• Get to know regulars and make new guests feel like they belong.
• Learn our rotating beer, wine, cocktail, and special event offerings.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well stocked bar.
• Accurately process orders and payments.
• Monitor guest needs and maintain responsible alcohol service standards.
• Assist with opening and/or closing duties.
• Help prepare the bar for private parties, corporate happy hours, and community events.
• Represent The Osthelder professionally within the community.

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be a career bartender. We care more about personality, reliability, and your ability to make people feel comfortable.

• Comfortable interacting with a wide range of personalities.
• Naturally personable and able to put people at ease.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Able to work independently.
• Attentive to details without losing the social side of bartending.
• Comfortable learning new drinks, products, and procedures.
• Able to remain composed during busy periods.
• Responsible when serving alcohol.
• 21+ years old and legally eligible to serve alcohol in Wisconsin.
